Dr. Chen has over 20 years of global industry experiences. In early 1990’s with a Silicon Valley company, he led the development of a pen-computer operating system software product. The product was licensed by major OEMs including IBM, Toshiba and NEC, and won major industry awards. Later in IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY, Dr. Chen led the invention of a large scale distributed e-Commerce solution which was selected by IBM CEO to demonstrate to President Jiang Zemin when he made the first state visit to US. During early 2000’s, Dr. Chen led the development of the Distributed Internet Service (DIS) technology product, which was successfully licensed by Boeing Company for enabling in-flight Internet application services worldwide. In 2004, DIS solution was field-tested and approved by Chinese Ministry of Railway. Since 2007 Dr. Chen has been serving as a technology leader for the China high-speed railway reservation system design with Easyway Company Ltd (Easyway). Most recently he has been leading the effort establishing a global open standard for the new generation of railway reservation system.
Currently Dr. Chen serves as the Chief Engineer of the iTBS project at Easyway, and the Chairman of Academic Committee of the Institute of Rail Information Services, Center for High-speed Railway Technology at Tsinghua University.
Dr. Chen holds an MS in digital signal processing from South China Univ. of Tech, an MS and PhD in Computer Engineering from Rutgers University (USA), and is the author of about 50 technical papers and patents.
